Roon the Toon 2023

Just completed my Sixth Roon The Toon in my PW (personal worst) time.. ! 01:03:49

But what a fantastic event to be part of, well done to all the volunteers and Kilmarnock Harrier and AC and all of the folks who came out to support this today.

It really was a great atmosphere with around 2,000 runners entered and great crowds along the route.

I am also raising money for East Ayrshire Recovery Hub for their New Heights Project

So that encouraged me to keep going! especially at the last lap round the Ayrshire Athletic Arena

Well done to all who took part - enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Sorn Street Surgery

Another Street Surgery this afternoon out and about in Sorn alongside Elena Whitham MSP

This was a joint surgery effort chapping on doors to speak with constituents about matters that are important to them in their local area.

We both picked up some enquiries for our respective MP and MSP offices.

Yet another cracking day weather wise - so hope the sun continues to shine - have a good weekend folks!

Asda Food Drive

I was pleased to visit Asda in Kilmarnock in my constituency to support their Food Drive this year.

I met with Gavin Penman, the Store Manager, Teresa Bruce, Asda Kilmarnock Community Champion, and representatives of the Ayrshire East foodbank [ Pictured ]

The foodbank will be collecting all weekend and early next week. They have a list of their most needed items so customers know what to buy (if they feel able to do so).

Asda has launched a national food drive with The Trussell Trust to support people experiencing hardship and alongside regular customer food collection trolleys, the drive will be running at local store, Asda Kilmarnock, between 1st and 7th June.

Please donate if you can.

National Coach Week 2023

As part of National Coach Week, I met with Morag Milligan of Milligan’s Coaches who are based in Mauchline, alongside Martin Bell from the Road Haulage Association this morning.

As a family-run business, I was impressed with how they operate and their passion for the industry.

National Coach Week aims to secure support from politicians to help celebrate the role of coaches, establish the different needs of the coach industry to the bus industry and garner support for key policy priorities amongst decision makers.

We spoke about many topics, as well as the challenges facing the industry at the moment. Milligan’s dedication to providing reliable transport services is commendable and I wish Morag and her family all the best moving forward.
