Speech: Household Energy Bills - 11/1/22
/My speech on Household Energy Bills (VAT).
My speech on Household Energy Bills (VAT).
Nuclear should be a thing of the past but the Tory obsession with it could cost the bill payer £63bn. Sizewell C will be a disaster and it is laughable the minister suggests we need nuclear to achieve net-zero.
On the day it was confirmed, he lied about cash for curtains on top of the Christmas party fiasco - I have called for the Prime Minister to resign. While the rest of us made sacrifices, they partied in Downing Street. One rule for them and another for the rest of us.
My views on the Prime Minister's record in Office.
With barely any spoken contributions between them, I raised the issue of Tory treasurers being inducted into the House of Lords. Their lack of action shows they were put there purely as a reward for their donations to the party.
A waste of public money.
Although the news is welcome they will invest in Tidal Stream generation, the reality is that £20m is not enough. The only way to guarantee manufacturing jobs stay in Scotland is to invest more. That is why I asked for a £71m ringfenced marine pot in next month’s energy auction.
Scotland leads the world in tidal stream technology. It requires £71m to bid for in next energy auction. The UK Government appear deaf to this.. But they found £1.7bn just to further develop the design of Sizewell nuclear station. They risk thousands of jobs being created abroad and not here.
My Ten Minute Rule calling for a review of electricity grid charging with a view to abolishing geographical charges.
Today's (19/10/2021) disgraceful announcement that the Scottish Cluster has missed out on funding from UK Government confirms Peterhead has been betrayed again. Scotland is getting no help from Westminster in the fight against Climate Change as they continue with their nuclear obsession.
