Press Release: An Evening With Stephen Flynn - 15/9/23
/Last week (Thursday 14th September 2023) Alan Brown MP welcomed Stephen Flynn to his constituency as he addressed voters in Kilmarnock’s Grand Hall.
The SNP’s Westminster Leader took part in a Q+A event with members from all branches across Ayrshire, organised by local volunteers and activists.
Present were several Ayrshire elected representatives including; Allan Dorans (MP for Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock), Willie Coffey MSP and Provost Jim Todd.
The event began with opening remarks from both Alan Brown MP and Stephen Flynn before Mr Brown, as Chair, welcomed questions from the floor for the Westminster Leader.
Commenting, Alan Brown MP said:
“It was great to have Stephen at the Grand Hall in Kilmarnock to relay our positive message of delivering for Scotland.
“It says everything about him that he made time for the event before having to head back up to Aberdeen via train on the night.
“As someone who works with him daily and get to observe him in the Chamber, he is a fantastic communicator and very transparent. I am glad locals got the chance to see him speak and answer questions fantastically well.
“Since being elected as Westminster Group Leader 10 months ago he has had some very challenging situations to deal with, but he has always remained calm and grounded and I believe this was evident in his delivery of questions posed to him by the floor.
“With his work in Westminster and Humza’s leadership in Holyrood, the SNP are the only party offering a credible opposition to the Tories. We are the only party calling for the £400 energy bill rebate to be reintroduced, we are the only ones calling for mortgage support, we are the only ones opposing Brexit and we are the only ones standing up to the cruel austerity policies implemented by the Tories, such as the two-child limit and the benefit cap.”
