Crosshouse Hospital and Kilmarnock Town Centre

Like everyone, I was horrified by the events of last night. My thoughts go out to the family and friends of the bereaved during this extremely difficult time.

I'd also like to pay tribute to our excellent emergency services for their actions and bravery. They are already working extremely hard to ensure our safety at this time and we cannot thank them enough.

There is a police presence at Crosshoue Hospital, however, the hospital is still operational and continuing to take patients after being put into a three-hour lockdown last night.

However, due to the ongoing investigation, the following roads remain closed but diversions are in place; West George Street, Portland Street, Garden Street via Hill Street to Portland Street, Union Street and U723 to C50 Brackenhill.

Although there are no wider safety concerns, I still ask people to look out for one another.
